International students - Hardship Fund
The International Hardship Fund is for International students living in the UK and on a current course, who have encountered unexpected financial difficulties that have occurred since the start of their course.
To apply for the Fund, students must first have an appointment with a student finance adviser from the Student Finance Office. Please make an appointment by following this link: Student Finance Office
Applicants will be provided with an application form at the appointment with the student finance adviser
Applicants must be able to demonstrate that unforeseen financial difficulties have occurred after they started their course with adequate funds arranged to cover tuition fees and living costs.
Students can only apply once in an academic year unless there is a significant change in their personal circumstances.
The Fund is discretionary so an application may not be successful.
Students must be up to date with tuition fee payments to be considered for the Fund. Any other outstanding debt must be repaid before applying to the Fund, or a payment plan must have been agreed with the University.
The level of award will be judged on a case by case basis. Awards are intended to meet immediate short term living costs.
Applicants will be required to provide the following:-
- Three months' recent bank statements
- Evidence of your rent/mortgage payments, such as a copy of your tenancy agreement
- Evidence of any external factors that have affected your financial situation
