What is Wellbeing?

Simply put, wellbeing is about ‘how we are doing’. It is personal and subjective and affects us all.

It includes many positive things such as feeling happy, healthy and our connections with friends and family. Our wellbeing priorities are the things that are important to us personally. This might include how we feel about ourselves, the quality of the relationships that we have with other people, and our sense of purpose.

These psychological needs are an important part of what makes us human, along with our ability to feel positive and negative emotions. It matters how often, and for how long, we experience positive emotions – such as pleasure and a sense of purpose – or potentially negative emotions, like anxiety.

Evidence  suggests there are 5 steps you can take to improve your mental health and wellbeing.

Making changes in these areas could help you feel more positive and able to get the most out of life.
